Creative Watch Area presents... Valentine's Notebook: An Exhibition by Love ArtUK
Urban artist Love ArtUK to hold Valentine’s Day themed exhibition at Liverpool’s HeadSpace@EggSpace Gallery from February 6th 2014.
Urban artist Love ArtUK will display his unique work at Liverpool’s Headspace@EggSpace Gallery from 6th February with a private view on 13th February. Featuring a mixture of new and familiar work from the popular artist, it follows a period of great creativity. This exhibition, Valentine’s Notebook, will showcase many of the newer works for the first time.
Those familiar with Love ArtUK’s work will know it follows themes that match the often loved up feeling of Valentine’s Day but also take a darker path showing that love can be used as a positive thing as well as a negative thing. The artist’s work has received much attention from appreciative art fans and the general public alike, most notably in the artist’s debut show in 2013 where a capacity crowd filled the Clove Hitch gallery on Hope Street.
Love ArtUK has also been seen at Wirral Earth Fest, an eco festival held at St Bridget’s Church and Field, West Kirby on September 14th 2013 where a church tower installation of the artist’s work was a highlight of the festival. A continuation of this installation will occur from the 10th February at various high locations on the Wirral and Liverpool, including church towers and more locations to be announced, as part of the linked project Looking For Love.
Love ArtUK says “My earlier Love ArtUK creations were very much based on the dark side to LOVE as at the time I was in a very dark and negative place. I see LOVE as a gift in us all, it doesn't come with instructions or a map, but LOVE can and will breakdown any wall put up in front of it. LOVE is the most sacred gift I have.”
“I do hope that you can all take some time out to support the exhibition and come along and I hope to see you all on the 13th February. There will also be new pieces exclusively on show during the exhibition."
Valentines Notebook is presented in association with Creative Watch Area and the private view will take place from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at HeadSpace (Egg Café, Liverpool) on Thursday 13th February. We look forward to seeing you there!

Peel Away Slowly and See… : Creative Watch Area presents Homegrown Bananas
The Scene: A small
café in the particularly windy Wirral locale.
A group of four
locals are laughing in a corner, surrounded by various notepads and mugs of
coffee. The casual observer may deduct little more than a shared joke – but it
wasn’t a joke that gave us cause to laugh but inspiration. We had in fact just
christened Homegrown Bananas – and so began a journey that is still in its
early stages but very much blooming.
The titular banana
began its journey at local café Toast on June 19th and over the
course of two hours a good proportion of the capacity crowd shared a song, poem
or story. Main band of the evening The Huers opened and closed proceedings with
their acoustic grace and it was in many ways an excellent opening shot for
Homegrown Bananas.
The banana cart then
moved around the locale taking in various venues including most recently the
behemoth space of West Kirby Library. Of course, with a venue like that there
is room for doing things on a grander scale! With the usual open-mic element
firmly in place, the welcoming aroma of Flaming Bean Coffee in the air and
various themed activities taking place around the space including a much
borrowed from library display themed around bananas, ecology and Transition
Town themes.
But a name like
Homegrown Bananas can say much – and mean a lot more! The initial imagery of
‘Homegrown’ implies organic warmth. A home produced meal or vegetables fresh
from the garden. But in a broader sense it implies a cultivation of the local
environs – from the field to the local, independent business. In other words –
it’s localism in action. A show of
support from the local community to its immediate assets and amenities.
But what of the
‘Bananas’? Well, it’s a roughly yellow fruit you may say. In fact, the humble
banana is imbued with much symbolism. It can be art, food, décor and most
importantly an economic tool. After all, if we don’t look after the people who
produce our bananas, and by extension their local economy where will we get our
bananas from?
Indeed, at the heart of the banana and
Homegrown Bananas itself lies a resilience to withstand any challenge. Peel
away the skin and the reward is a nutrient filled food – essential in life. In
the same way that music and community are. Homegrown Bananas is therefore a
positive mix of the creative, the local and the community based ethos of
Transition Town. With monthly events held in an independent venue in the West
Kirby area there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing you at a Homegrown Bananas
event soon.
The typical gathering
will feature a headline performer opening proceedings with the floor soon
thrown open to those who have a song, poem or story they want to share to the
always open minded and appreciative crowd. That includes you right? See you
soon and when the banana comes your way – get ready to share your song, poem or
story…

Homegrown Bananas is presented by Transition Town West Kirby and Creative Watch Area Promotions and takes place monthly.

Invitation - Creative Watch Area presents Anna Di Scala's "Vibrant Eyes" Art Exhibition.
Where: Bellini Cocktail Bar and Italian Restaurant, Liverpool.
When: 1st November 2012 from 7pm.
Vibrant Eyes is the latest exhibition of Fine
Artist and oil painter Anna Di Scala’s captivating work. The show, presented in conjunction with
Creative Watch Area, will feature brand new pieces of work not seen in public
until this event.
With a style
inspired by Picasso and Modigliani yet unique to herself her art work is
designed to be about the eyes. The vibrant colours open your eyes to the world
of their subjects and the subjects in turn are vibrant, looking out at the
observer with a confident stare. The
eyes of the exhibitions logo were designed by Anna herself and enhanced by Creative
Watch Area and represent the concept of the exhibition beautifully. When you
witness Anna’s work in person you will surely be captivated by its accomplished
passion and attention to detail.
The
exhibition itself is ongoing but make sure to be there on this special night to
view some brand new pieces not to be unveiled until evening of the event.
Please note that all pieces on display are
available to buy and commissions are welcomed. Please talk to Anna on the night
or contact us for more information.
Quotes:
“Anna Di Scala's sketches…they are more than worthy of a second look with
the influence of renaissance artists evident immediately.” (From a biography on
her website by Sebastian Gahan)
“Di Scala’s very alive portraits and nudes bewitched
me, the elongated faces and the serene gaze of her subjects are both sensuous
and captivating, her use of colour dazzling…” (Art in Liverpool)
“As a chef as well as an artist, and having spent her
childhood in family restaurants, Di Scala describes her work as ‘desirable,
sensual, and pleasurable’ and believes that food has a strong positive
influence on her work, comparing the hands-on experience of both cooking and
painting.” (Seven Streets)
“The images are captivating and in some cases
visceral and whilst her paintings show bright portraits of nudes, these
sketches are stark pencil and ink sketches that are as evocative (and erotic)
as her much appreciated painted work.” (Seba Rashii Culture: Online Culture
Zine on her Erotic Sketches Show)
Bio:
With a following across the world and sales to places as far flung as
America, Italy and beyond, Anna Di Scala’s scope is wide and deservedly so.
Often depicting beautiful nudes and vibrant portraits of her subjects, Di
Scala’s oil paintings and sketches are captivating, reflecting the vibrant colours
of her Italian heritage and Liverpool home. As a self taught artist, she has
worked with oil on canvas and sketch to produce work that is developing with
her high reaching aims in the art world. From her ironic vajazzling of some
portraits for clients to her many sketch commissions sent all over the world
her work is in demand and very collectible.
We hope to see you at this excellent show on 1st November 2012 from 7pm.
